January through February - Forgotten Books of the Bible Book Study

During January and February, the congregation is invited to read Robert Williamson’s new book, Forgotten Books of the Bible. Dr. Williamson, a religious studies professor at Hendrix College in Conway AR, will be preaching and teaching at Idlewild on February 24. Prior to his coming, three groups will be studying the book together:

* Stephen Sunday School (begins January 6)

* Young Adult/Christian Parenting Sunday School class (begins January 20)

* Thursday Morning Bible Study (10:00 a.m. Thursdays at Trezevant, beginning January 18)

You can also read the book on your own. Get it from Novel bookstore, online, or from the church ($14). Please contact Brenda Harris to order a book from the church or if you are interested in a group.


Jan 19 - Fellowship for SK-5th grade families

A fellowship for SK-5th grade families will be hosted by Brad and Sue Dillard on January 19. Watch for more details or contact Marjorie Reynolds,


Jan 19 - Pinecrest Chili Dinner

For the Love of Chili, a Pinecrest special event, will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, January 19 at Pinecrest. It’s for everybody. Donations only. Enjoy different kinds of chili, a fire, and a friendly meal with friends.


Jan 22 - Presbyterian Women Project Day

Presbyterian Women at Idlewild invites all women of the church for a Project Day on Tuesday, January 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the T.K. Young Room. Enjoy lunch and fellowship! 
Projects include:

  • Sewing stoles to be given to the confirmation class
  • Making Valentine cards to be sent to our care partners
  • Making pillows to be used in classrooms in the Jones Building

Register and pay for lunch ($8) in Realm or RSVP to and pay at the door.

Fri-Sat, Jan 25-26 - Tapestry Leadership Event

Tapestry: A Leadership Event of the Presbytery of the Mid-South and Presbytery of St. Andrews, will take place Friday and Saturday, January 25–26, at Batesville Presbyterian Church in Batesville, Mississippi. Dr. Lee Ramsey of Memphis Theological Seminary is the keynote speaker and preacher. Saturday offers a wide range of workshops. Pick up a brochure from the literature rack at church for details.


Friday Feb 1 - Parents Night Out

Watch for info about the upcoming Parents Night Out on Friday, Feb. 1, from 5:30 to 8:30. Registration opens soon.


Feb 5 - 26 - Hope Circle

The Hope Circle will meet Tuesdays in February, 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the church parlor (except Feb. 19, location TBA). The topic is Experiencing God in Unexpected Ways and Places. Facilitators: Katie Cole and Stephanie Rodda. Weekly presenters: Judy Johnson, Suzanne Henley, and Jeff Thompson. To join the group, please contact Katie at
