Sunday, March 24 - Elizabeth's Ordination

Elizabeth Hollingsworth Doolin is being ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament this afternoon at 3:00. Elizabeth is our Director of Young Adult Ministry as well as Ukirk Campus Minister. All are invited to attend and celebrate this wonderful occasion. A reception will follow.


Sun March 24 - Second Graders Bibles

Second Graders Bible Presentation and a workshop will be held.  Bibles will be presented during the 11:00 service. The workshop, 12:15-1:45 in the Strock Room, is for second graders and their parents to help children become better acquainted with their new Bibles. Parents, please register by March 17 via the Realm link you received by email. 


Thurs March 28 - Book Club

The monthly Idlewild Book Club meets Thursday, March 28 at 2:00 in the parlor to discuss News of the World by Paulette Jiles. All are welcome!


Sunday, March 31 - Annual Congregational Meeting

The annual congregational meeting will be held Sunday, March 31 following the 11:00 a.m. service, for the purpose of receiving the 2019‑20 budget and reviewing the terms of call for clergy. The 2018 annual report will also be distributed.


Sun March 31 – Service Festival

Sunday, March 31 from 9:30 to 11:00 and 12:00 to 1:00 in the T.K. Young Room, each ministry unit will be represented and a variety of opportunities to serve in the church will be available. Come to this Service Festival and discover all the ways you can connect with your family of faith. Following the 11:00 service, enjoy a reception and stay for a special carillon concert honoring Steve Montgomery’s ministry. See you then!


Sun March 31 – Carillon Concert

At 1:00 on Sunday, March 31 a special carillon concert will be presented in Steve’s honor. Carillonneurs David Caudill and Peggy McClure will play some of Steve’s favorites. Enjoy the 48-bell concert outdoors (you can take chairs outside) or come into the T.K. Young Room and see a live video feed from the tower.


Sat April 6 - Midtown Legal Clinic

A neighborhood civil legal clinic will be held at the church Saturday, April 6 in cooperation with Memphis Area Legal Services. Volunteers, especially attorneys and paralegals, are needed from 9:00 to 1:00. For info and to sign up, please contact Minna Glenn, or 901-683-1605. More info.


Sat April 13 - Spring Fling at Shelby Farms

It’s almost Spring Fling time! On Saturday, April 13, we will gather at the Shelby Farms Jones Pavilion for a big multi-generational event from 10:00 to 3:00. The day begins with an Easter Egg hunt. There will also be worship and singing, lunch (hamburgers and hot dogs), an afternoon run, and yard games. Come for the whole day or any time you want. Bring your lawn chair and a picnic, or order lunch ($6) when you sign up. Don’t miss it! Register by April 1 in Realm Events.

Needed: Candy and small treats (e.g., stickers) are needed to fill Easter eggs for the Spring Fling on April 13. Please leave donations in the collection box near the office by April 1. Thank you!


May 28 to Aug 2 - EEC's MAD Summer Camp

MAD Summer Camp, a program of the Early Enrichment Center (EEC) at Idlewild, is set for May 28–August 2 from 8:00 to 4:00. This is weekday summer camp for rising K-5th graders, with extended care and limited drop-in care available. In keeping with Idlewild’s longtime focus on outreach, children will Make A Difference (MAD) in Memphis with animals, hunger, clean water, and more. Daily activities include yoga, outdoor play, music, crafts, reading, and water play.
